Abstract
The purpose of this project is to design, build, and test an EMDR device for remote psychotherapy. EMDR is a psychotherapeutic technique achieved through alternating stimulation of opposite sides of the subject's body. One common means of achieving this stimulation is to have the subject follow an oscillating light on an LED light bar. This project will create a device for a client who conducts EMDR therapy remotely via teleconferencing software. The device will have an LED light bar capable of oscillating at varying frequencies, which will be mountable on a laptop and visible from the laptop's webcam. The client will be able to control the device and adjust the frequency of oscillation and any other parameters that need to be adjusted using desktop software with a graphical user interface. The device will connect to the client’s computer via USB.
