Aims & Scope
Wellspring: A Practitioner-Oriented Journal of Literacy and Language Education is a collaborative peer-reviewed, open access journal that features practitioner-oriented work in literacy and language education. Developed in collaboration with the Southern Maine Writing Project and the Department of Literacy, Language, and Culture at the University of Southern Maine, the primary goal of the journal is to create space with, for, and by teachers, teacher-researchers, and teacher-writers to share insights from their practice.
Wellspring publishes a fall and spring issue each year. Wellspring encourages submissions from practicing educators, defined broadly to include preservice and inservice teachers, literacy specialists, literacy coaches, interventionists, ELL teachers, adult language educators, librarians, school administrators, etc. We also encourage submissions from teacher education faculty provided the work is co-constructed with a practicing educator and does not simply report on work about practicing educators or their students.
Submissions for the spring issue will be accepted until February 28th. Submissions for the fall issue must be submitted by August 31st. Authors of accepted submissions will be supported through the publication process by one or more peer reviewers.
