Abstract
Join USM LGBTQ+ Collection and the Equality Community Center for a panel discussion moderated by the creator of the Valerie's podcast featuring many of the activists who made it possible. The panel will discuss queer activism and community in Maine in the 1970s, why it was so important for queer people to live authentically, what really went down at Valerie's, and more. There will be time to ask questions and to engage with the panelists after the presentation.
