  I do hereby release and convey to the said
  Charity and Emana Jane all my rights
  bills and claims to their services hence

  State of Florida Know all men by these presents that Jackson County We William Garbrough and Hugh Rusk bound unto William A Austin by the sum of two hundred dollars and ... cents for the payment whereof well and truly to be made. we bind, ourselves. our heirs. executors and administrators. jointly and severally. firmly by these presents. signed and sealed this twenty second day of January A.D.1858 THE CONDITION OF .THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH; that whereas James Griffin. Sheriff of Jackson County. by virtue of an execution in favor of the said William A. Austin against the said William Garbrough has levied upon the following Property to which: Negro woman Adeline aged 22 years and negro girl Louisa aged 6 years. one sorrel horse. one hay horse. one brown horse. eighty head of cattle and sixty head of hogs and the said William Garbrough wishing to replevy the same. Now if the said William Garbrough shall have the said property forthcoming at Marrianna on the first Monday in March. 1858 then this obligation to be void. or else remain in full force and virtue.   The State of Louisiana) Be it remembered Parish of St. Helena ) that on this fifteenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty five before me Samuel Lion and Parish Judge and exoficio notary pub lie in and for said Parish appears Charles D. Harris of the State of Mississippi who did Declare and say that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars paid to him by Dempray K. Gorman of said Parish he does hereby sell convey transfer and deliver unto the said Gorman all his rights title interest and claims in and to a negro woman named Mary about eight teen years and to her child Edmond fifteen months and both copper colour and slaves for life and warrant free from all the vices known to slaves in this state and the title of which is warranted against himself his heirs assigns and all persons who ? ? the payment for which is made by the said Gorman as follows two hundred and fifty dollars cash the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and three hundred dollars to be paid on the first day of January next for which the said Gorman gives his note with his mother as security and to draw eight percent interest after due until paid the said Gorman hereby acknowledges possession of said slaves and the woman hereby waives the protection of the certificate of mortgage required of the notary and discharges the notary for the non production thereof this done and passed in presence of Daniel Newton and Jonathan D. Kemp witness of said parish who have signed these presents with the parties and the said notary on the date above written

  Know all men by these presents that I Larkin Powers of the County of Rockbridge and the State of Virginia have .?. by these presents do sell unto Thomas Johnston of the county and state aforesaid a negro woman named Hannah for the consideration of one sorrel horse of the value of fifty dollars and in cash fifteen dollars the act of which I ackowledge and I do warrant and defend the health and title of said negro against the claims or clauses of all persons in writing whereof I have herewith Let my hand and seal this 2nd day of February 1830

  Manuscript slave deed, dated December 1, 1800, from William & Nicholas Mills to Charles Thompson Jr. Contemporary copy, recorded March 1801.

  This deed ? made and entered in the first day of December in the year one thousand and eight hundred between William and Nicholas Mills administrators of the Nicholas Mills desc'd who was executor of Ann Mills deceased on the one part and Charles Thompson Jr of the other part Witneseth that the said William Mills and Nicholas Mills as Admintrs aforesaid for and in consideration fo the sum of One dollar to us in hand paid by the said Charles Thompson Fr the receipt where of we do hereby acknowledge. But more especially for the uses and trust hereafter in this writing mentioned have bargained and sold to Charles Thompson Jr his heirs ect. and administrators two Negro women named Penny and Alice which are the two Negroes purchased by the said Nicholas Mills as administrators for themselves and successors as administrators aforesaid warrant the title to said Negroes and their increase to the said Charles Thompson Jr for his heirs and upon special trust and confidence. Never the less that where as Ann Mills dec'd by her certain Will in writing duly provided and recorded in the County Court of Hanover among other things devised in manner following, That is to say that the money due her from her son William Mills shoud be by her exectors the said Nicholes Mills dec'd be laid out in the purchase of the Negro women the sole right and property of which Negro women to be in Agnys Mills her daugher (the wife of Francis Mills) and heirs of her body and the over plus of the money (if any) to be laid out as the said Agnys Mills should choose and their being a small sum over purchasing one Negro woman the balance was by her choice laid out in the purchase of another, now the true extent and meaning of the deed is that the said Charles Thompson Jr shall hold the two Negro women aforesaid in his possession but the use of them to be for the benefit of said Agnys Mills during her life and at her death that the said Charles Thompson Fr divide the negro women Penny and Alice with all the future increase equally among all the children of said Agnys Mills and their legal representatives.

  In witness whereof the said William and Nicholas Mills Administrators of Nicholas dec'd and said Charles Thompson Jr. have hereunto set thei hand and affixed their seals the day and date first in the deed mentioned.
