Description

An increase in demand for information literacy instruction is every academic librarian’s dream, but librarian time staffing the reference desk limits the amount of teaching each of us can do. The idea of hiring student employees to staff academic reference desks is not new, but transferable examples and training materials are hard to come by. This presentation shares our successful process for hiring and training student reference workers as well as a framework for other academic reference departments to do the same.
