The King Tide Bring Your Own Chair Party took place at midnight on July 14, 2014 at Cove Street and Marginal Way in Portland, Maine. Community members were invited to observe the rising tides and street theater, puppetry and trailers of flood movies. They could also listen to King Tide interviews and interact with the sculptural intervention, Observation Shack. Additional activities included recording the water’s edge with a GPS device. Fireworks were lit at 12:36 a.m. to celebrate the arrival of the King Tide, which peaked at 12:023 feet. The event was hosted by the King Tide Party and University of Southern Maine in cooperation with the East Bayside Neighborhood Organization, The Resilience Hub, Zero Station Gallery and Portland U-Haul.
