Abstract
Even in tough times, signs of educators’ passion and joy are everywhere in Maine’s public schools. A few examples from our work with teachers around the greater Portland area: a teacher’s enthusiasm as she guides children through a forest; drawing attention to how water shapes the local landscape; middle schoolers perking up to participate in a rich history discussion beautifully executed by their teacher; hallways lined with vibrant artwork by teachers proud of the imaginations running wild in their classrooms.
