Abstract

The Masterman Farm Journals: 1915-1925 is a transcription of selections from three volumes of a daily journal from the Masterman Farm on Moosehead Lake. This transcription provides farm activities and good weather data. Temperature, wind, and precipitation are detailed with personal notes from 1915-1925. Three full years were selected to plot temperature distribution for comparison to modern records of the region. The ice out and fall freeze dates are compared to historic records. High rates of human activities illustrate seasonal changes necessary to make a living in the North Maine Woods. Hand painted ceramics will complement the analysis.
