Abstract
In today’s global landscape, leadership does not mean merely achieving high profits. It encompasses purpose and vision while also focusing on values. During uncertain and volatile times, connection to a clear purpose means for grounding. The leadership journey is personal with many varied influences and aspects. The components of leadership development in addition to experiences, training and beliefs, shape the individual journey and the leadership style and effectiveness. Previous research has focused on spirituality as it relates to the workplace and leadership. However, few studies have outlined the correlation between leaders with spiritual values and their effectiveness and development pathway. A total of ten leaders were interviewed about their leadership journey and experiences which shaped their development and personal growth. They were asked questions relating to values and effectiveness. Responses to the questions relating to values and effectiveness provide insights into the impact of leadership development values. These findings may help inform future individuals in their leadership journeys, as well as those who work in the leadership development space.
