Abstract

In the summer of 2019, many asylum seekers arrived in Portland, Maine. In a unique community coordinated response, local organizations created a hosting program to temporarily place asylees with local host families. Scant literature describes the hosting experiences in host countries. Collaborating with Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition (MIRC), we conducted a phenomenological study to understand the hosting experience.
