Abstract
Every college student has a story to share. This research is about first-generation college students. When you are the first person in your family to do something, many obstacles can stand in your way. This qualitative research is about students who struggle to fit-in and who sometimes wonder if they should quit. It explores the life of first-generation college students who have been in difficult situations and overcome them. Although first generation college students accomplish great things and establish themselves in great leadership roles, many students still struggle to find ways to overcome barriers when they do not have the resources to help them. This qualitative research utilized interview method, where interview participants are those who would have been first-generation college students. This research provides an inside view to demonstrate that many students want to go to college and want to be an excellent example to their family and community, but do not have the resources to do so.
