Abstract
In Visa to Motherland, Colleen Hennessy investigates her identity as a Mainer, a mom and an immigrant. Through a combination of personal narrative, research and cultural analysis, Hennessy's writing spans her experiences on two sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Hennessy uses personal correspondence, medical records and official documentation alongside personal narrative in essays about her move to lreland, the birth of her two children and her family's move to Maine in2015. The collection deals with the theme of belonging, the state of culture shock, and the definition of home.
