Abstract
Panel discussion "Maine LGBT History: Life and Activism in the 1970s", November 10, 2010, sponsored by the Jean Byers Sampson Center for Diversity in Maine. This event celebrates the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Collection of the Sampson Center receiving the Stan Fortuna, Susan Henderson, Petter Prizer Collection. This collection chronicles the production of the Mainely Gay Newsletter, chronicling LGBT activism in Maine. The Mainely Gay Newsletter was previously titled the Maine Gay Task Force Newsletter. It was created in the 1970s by the Maine Gay Task Force to build connections between LGBT organizations throughout the state. Panelists will each speak separately and then open a discussion with the audience about LGBT in Maine from the 1970s to the present.
