Abstract
Word processing is only the first step towards the automated electronic office of the future. Microprocessors, computer graphics, teleconferencing, electronic mail, and other technological advancements are also changing the work of office personnel. While contemporary literature on office automation views WP as only one component within the larger picture of the integrated automated office, WP provides the starting point.
