Comments
Reminiscences include how finishing department worked (cutting, counting, inspecting, packing and shipping finished paper), relations between managers and female workers in finishing department, character of work life such as shift work and paternalistic ethos. Recalls father's career at the mill beginning in 19th century. Best anecdote: at age 14 began working at mill, and was responsible during snow storms to hitch up a team of horses and sleighs owned by the mill and pick up workers in nearby Windham and bring them to the mill for their shifts.
