Description
In this artist book, I explore how music and physicality are deeply intertwined through my narrative. I use vivid illustrations to describe the fear of learning to play piano again after a traumatic experience in my childhood. This project seeks to demonstrate both perseverance and vulnerability in the sight of adversity. Using a mostly monochromatic palette, I emphasize important moments with the tasteful use of red to highlight emotion. I examined anatomical medical images for the inspiration behind the drawings, and two of those images were superimposed onto some of the later pages of the book. During the process of creating this book, I was able to use my creative passion to explore a formative life experience through art and storytelling. I hope that my book will inspire other artists and thinkers to allow themselves to accept moments of vulnerability in their creative processes and personal narratives.
