A recording of a bilingual concert by the Orphéon Chorale, a prominent Franco-American musical society, Christmas, 1962. The concert was sponsored by the Bates Manufacturing Company, Lewiston's largest employer and textile manufacturer. The recording was made for radio broadcast, probably on Lewiston's WCOU.
The Franco-American Collection is grateful to Father Robert Parent for donating the original open reel recording, and to the Maine Folklife Center for digitizing the recording.
The recording includes narration and advertisements by Bates Manufacturing, and music performed by l'Orphéon under the direction of Roger Saucier and Alexis Coté:
