Abstract
Introduction This evaluation plan will be used for the fulfillment of the capstone project for the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Southern Maine (USM). The purpose of this capstone is to develop an evaluation plan for the public health program at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. This evaluation plan will be helpful in assessing program success in instruction, scholarship, and service.
This capstone project will be beneficial for the public health program at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. With this evaluation plan, faculty and staff will have a jumpstart to the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) continuing accreditation process. The public health program is accredited through December 21, 2021 for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public health.
CEPH accreditation is important for a variety of reasons – it ensures that schools of public health and public health programs meet specific guidelines and criteria. This accreditation process combines site visits, self-study documents, peer-reviews, and evaluations. This rigorous process allows those that become accredited to know that they are meeting standards set forth by CEPH to provide the highest quality education.
