Abstract

Sailors and Other Stories is a collection of six short stories composed between May 2013 and July 2015. Each piece is set in contemporary time, and all (with the exception of "The Actress and the Dogwalker") center on the working middle-class in California or the American Southwest. The work intends, primarily, to focus on character-specifically, on individuals contending with significant psychological reorderings brought on by external events that -in many cases-are beyond their control.
