Elisée A. Dutil was born to Alphonse and Odile (Cote) Dutil on November 24, 1919, in Lewiston, ME. He was the brother of Denis Mailhot's mother, Leona (Dutil) Mailhot. Prior to his military induction, Elisée worked at the Bates Manufacturing Co. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 9, 1942; he trained at Ft. George Meade in Maryland, and went overseas in January 1943. He participated in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He was wounded twice during the course of his service, and was killed in action in Germany on March 18, 1945.
