Abstract
A study investigated the status of the binding principles outlined by Noam Chomsky (Lectures on Government and Binding, Dordrecht: Foris, 1981) in the grammars of children aged 3:9 to 5:4. The children were found to possess four different grammar types representing different stages of acquisition.
