Abstract

Love #Me Too is a collection of narratives that address the trauma of sexual violence and the legacy of shame culture. In an excerpt from her novel and two essays, Meghan Vigeant navigates her role of as a survivor of sexual violence.

In the excerpt from Love #Me Too, a newcomer to a small island in Maine has a frightening and confusing encounter with a neighbor; only her experience doesn’t match the ideas of rape she’d been taught. When she intuits that her neighbor is targeting someone else, she must decide if she will stay silent or speak out. But is ten years too late?
