Abstract

Interview with Ellie Smells, maid at Maine Chance Farm in the summers of 1968, 1969, and 1970. Ellie discusses spending summers at her father's camp on Flying Pond in Mount Vernon, and being hired at Maine Chance as a teenager. Ellie recalls being one of the few Catholics employed to work on the "spa side". She describes the grounds and buildings, explains what a typical day was like for guests, and what her own work day was like.
