They were part of the "dirty dozen" that shutdown the boilers, and hence th entire mill, in October 1970. The motivation was that Heuer and his new mill staff had violated union contracts, abused workers while on the job, and refused to meet and discuss these infractions with union leaders and rank and file about the problems and perceived betrayals fostered by Heuer. Provide a colorful rendering of the pivotal moments in the 1970 wildcat strike. They both were part of a recent (post 2000) activist group of retired Fraser workers who had lung disease, with their group numbering more than 20.
