Description

Hundreds rally in Augusta to protest Governor “Jock” McKernan’s veto of the state queer inclusive non-discrimination bill. It had already passed in the Maine House and Senate. Angry but humorous signs dotted the Capitol steps and a handful of protestors took their antics to Blaine House front door while others still blocked traffic on State Street. One arrest was made. Image descitption: Protesters and signs dot the captial steps. In the forground Erica Rand, Bee (now Jed) Bell, and one other hold a sign that reads: "We're queer. Don't Fuck with us. Rights Now! ACT UP." Signs in the background read: "We shall be free" and McKernan does discrimate"
