Typical experience of paper mill town youth who got jobs in the mill during summers in college but not continuing after college completion. Astute observer of mill life and community culture.

Comments

Jensen describes how difficult and intense the work environment is for a young outsider. Mill was dangerous, hot, intense chemical odors, known and unknown dangers. Describes chaotic layout of the 130 year old mill at time of his employment; it took many months simply to know one's way around. Also rough, harsh behavior and language of male workers.
