Monument Description
Three Monuments to Warren’s Veterans
(Text from a Museum in the Streets Interpretive Panel written by the Warren Historical Society)
The large monument was erected and dedicated in 1889 to Warren men who served in the Civil War (1861-1865). There are 110 names, ten of which are African-American, identified at that time as CT (colored troops). The ceremonies at the dedication included a parade, luncheon, band concerts and speeches. Our Soldiers Monument was disassembled, repaired and restored in 2002.
The three sided monument was completed and dedicated in 1997. This monument honors 360 of Warren’s veterans of the 1900s who served in World War I, World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam and Persian Gulf.
A brass plaque on the large stone on the east corner of the lot was a town project and dates to 1956. This plaque honors veterans who served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
