Abstract
Two years ago, DEA Agent Lucas Kane brought down Tommy Martinez, a CalPac drug cartel kingpin, in an undercover operation that ultimately cost Kane both his partner and his marriage. Now, back home in Seattle, Kane and his new partner, Agent Melanie Fitzpatrick, are working a series of local drug raids where things are not exactly as they appear. When a tractor trailer loaded with pharmaceuticals goes off the grid in the Cascade Mountains—Kane and Fitzpatrick are assigned to the case and told to play nice with the lead FBI agent, Jon Perez, whose past betrayal of Kane threatens to derail the investigation. When Kane’s addict-brother delivers a ledger suggesting Martinez is calling the shots, Kane finds himself—and those he cares most about—squarely in the cross-hairs of the cartel. False leads and erroneous tips lead the pair on a tumultuous chase down the Pacific coast, ultimately landing them in southern California, where Kane must confront his past and expose his true enemy before it’s too late.
