Description

About fifty students from Biddeford, Portland and South Portland High Schools stage an access-to-latex protest in Monument Square, downtown Portland. These students were organizing under the acronym FATE, Fight AIDS Transform Education. FATE was designed to help teens organize for latex available to students, for better HIV/AIDS education, for the inclusion of homophobia in sexual harassment policies, and for the formation of diversity groups that included but are not limited to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens in their schools.
